Virtual Visit

Virtual Visits, also referred to as “telehealth,” “telemedicine,” or “video visits,” are a convenient way to connect to our physicians from the comfort of your home using a computer or any mobile device with an Internet connection. To schedule a virtual visit, please call our office at 214-618-2222.

Next, prepare a space for the visit.

  • Choose a quiet space that is free from distractions, ideally a room with carpet to minimize echo.
  • Set your camera so it’s at eye level for a full view of your face. If you’re using a phone or tablet, lean it against something so you don’t have to hold it.
  • Adjust your lighting and close any blinds. Try to make sure there is no light or window directly behind the camera to avoid glare.
  • During your visit, your physician may need to examine you or your child. Be prepared to adjust your camera and be prepared to follow your doctor's instructions.
  • Depending on the reason for your visit, have a thermometer, a flashlight or other light source, a recent weight or a scale available.

Tips for preparing your child for a virtual visit:

For young children (infant, toddler, or younger preschooler) it may be helpful to:

  • Have another parent, older child, or caregiver nearby so they can help hold the camera. This may be especially helpful if you need to hold your child in a certain way so their doctor can get the best view during the exam.
  • Keep toys, books, and perhaps a bottle or sippy cup handy to help soothe and engage your child throughout the visit.

For older school-age children, it may be helpful to sit next next to them during the visit so the physician can talk to you both during the visit. It may also be fun for your child to show their doctor their favorite toy or introduce their pet. Those things will help them be more comfortable with the visit.

If your child is a teenager, your doctor may ask them to do part of the call on their own, for their privacy — just as they would for an in-person visit.

When it is time for your appointment, you will receive a text that your doctor is ready for your Virtual Visit. Click the provided link to open a secure video chat with your physician. Please be aware that the secure link must be open within 10 minutes or the link expires. For your protection, our telehealth platform is HIPAA-secure.

Once your visit is complete, your physician will document the visit in your medical record and send in any prescriptions or labs ordered.

Many insurance carriers, including Medicare and Medicaid, cover virtual visits similarly to in-office visits. Co-pays, co-insurance and deductibles may apply. To find out if your health plan covers Telemedicine please contact your specific plan. If your insurance does not cover Telemedicine or you are not insured, please contact our office to discuss financial arrangements.
